On the Road, de Jack Kerouac, por Tó Trips (Dead Combo) e Tiago Gomes (Revista Bíblia)

Malente
Delivering this album in this short amount of time is almost sensational to us, bearing in mind that he is basically constantly producing and on the road touring as a DJ, whether it is Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, USA, Thailand, Canada, Spain or Russia to name just a few territories. Absolutely no time fellows to stand still, take time off, taking a break or anything in the same vein. Without a doubt, Malente is amongst the hardest working men in the scene – and especially the variety of his music is growing ever since. “How Can You Still Stand To Stand Still” is not only fully loaded with a total of 14 fascinating tracks that will create dancefloor craze, it also holds some astonishments back in it´s pockets which will go far beyond the perception of the music itself...
Being constantly driven by the question: „How is it possible these days to be silent, to keep still, to not raise your voice?“ Malente desperately wants us to look beyond the music and record itself: His overall aim is to somehow contrast and subtend the average, ordinary and superficial „dance, dance, dance“ party-attitude with something deep and real such as characterism and humor!
Slogans and lyrics are not issued, paraded and meant to be raised against those in „power“ or those, who remain in ignorant silence. Precisely, this is meant to be a personal hassle and conflict, adressed to himself, against his very own ignorance („For The Revolution“ or „Open Secret“) to raise and cultivate awareness – sometimes to wake yourself up, question yourself („Fucked“), sometimes positive as a matter of motivation: „You Know Who You Are“. If others feel activated by this point of view as well Malente shurely wouldn´t bother...
Sometimes, it just takes a word or even a strong thought to re-activate and stimulate your whole environment, even if it´s being articulated out of momentum and a tentative point of view! Doesn´t this all sound back-breaking and bone-crushing? Actually it´s really feathery! More Ace Of Base and Sugababes than Coldplay or U2. „How Can You Still Stand To Stand Still?“ is dancemusic fellows, or to name it in Malente´s very own words: bassline-driven Electro Funk!
Artistically, Malente remains true to his principles and travels through 70s & 80s Funk, Electro and Breakbeats but sounding more electronic and powerful ever since. The album offers tracks and songs for any occasion, starting with classic vocal single repertoire such as „For The Revolution“ – by the way the first single which comes across with remixes from DJ Regal, dutch rhythm master Mason and UK´s Smoove - and „Open Secret“. Then there´s bloody electro breaks madness such as „Like A Freek“, „Move Your Body“ and „In The Sky“ which has been produced with his friend and partner Lars Moston. „In The Sky“ has also been released in a different version as Moston & Malente on Moonbootique!
Let us introduce the other great guest-features on the album: The Song „They Want You To Fail“ has been co-written by Dublex Inc. from Stuttgart´s Pulver Records posse, the vocals are contributed by London´s most cynical MC Travis Blaque, who has just released his solo debut „The Many Facets Of“ on unique records. Blinding track! And there´s Moritz Love, singer of infamous group „Die Türen“ and „The Bougroup“ from berlin who helps out on the track „Washington DC“. Jabwai from Los Angeles is featured on „In Bed With The Devil“. Last but not least, singer Richard Kim who has been guest starring on the heavy Malente funk track „Funk The Rich“, returns with no less than two vocal contributions on the tracks „For The Revolution“ and the epic „War on War“.
